Tom R. McDougal, Jr., D.Sc., MSHA, MBA, FACHE, Elected to American College of Healthcare Executives Council of Regents

BILOXI, MS - March 20, 2021—Tom R. McDougal, Jr., D.Sc., MSHA, MBA, FACHE, chief executive officer at Merit Health Biloxi, has been appointed to the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives. The Council of Regents serves as the vital link between ACHE and members by approving governance and membership regulations as well as promoting ACHE programs, services and activities within their respective areas.
McDougal will take office March 20, 2021, prior to ACHE’s 64th Congress on Healthcare Leadership. As a regent, McDougal will represent ACHE’s membership in District 4.
McDougal has served as chief executive officer at Merit Health Biloxi since September 2019 and has over 20 years of hospital CEO experience. As a driven healthcare entrepreneur, he has also founded and led multiple companies in areas as diverse as telemedicine and sales strategy. He also currently serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Healthcare Administration at Samford University instructing graduate students in healthcare management, finance, economics and ethics.
McDougal holds a Doctor of Science in healthcare administration, a Master of Science in health administration, and a Master of Business Administration, all from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to his graduate studies, McDougal graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Samford University.
