Extraordinary Nurse Recognized with DAISY Award® at Merit Health Biloxi

Merit Health Biloxi nurses make a difference every day and are key to providing a positive patient experience. Today, a nurse was honored at Merit Health Biloxi with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®, an award that recognizes exceptional care, compassion and dedication.

The Q4 2022 DAISY Award recipient is: Liz Abarca, R.N.

Liz is often complemented by patients for her exceptional care. In the nomination form, they described Liz as very knowledgeable in her field. “She explained everything to us in our own language.” Liz is friendly, goes above and beyond to help her patients, and has a great personality.

Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at Merit Health Biloxi to receive The DAISY Award and awards are presented throughout the year. Each Honoree receives a certificate commending her or him as an "Extraordinary Nurse." The certificate reads: "In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people." Honorees also receive a DAISY Award pin and a beautiful and meaningful sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe. Patients, families and colleagues may nominate nurses for this award.
