New CEO on the Ground at Merit Health Biloxi
1/12/2022
Landon Hise, a tenured healthcare executive passionate about quality and the patient experience, started as CEO at Merit Health Biloxi on Jan. 1. Hise and his family relocated to Biloxi from Oklahoma, where he served as CEO of AllianceHealth Woodward, an 87-bed hospital.
Successes during his tenure at Woodward, where he served since 2018, include the addition of teleneurology and telepulmonology, which enable experts to see patients remotely, the renovation and expansion of an outpatient rehabilitation center, development of a new urgent care clinic set to open this spring, and recruitment of primary care and specialty providers. His leadership gained him recognition as one of The Journal Record’s 2021 “Achievers Under 40 in Oklahoma.”
“Over his 15 years of executive leadership, he has demonstrated an ability to forge strong relationships with physicians and engage with employees, making Landon an excellent choice to lead our hospital,” said Rob Briscoe, chair, Merit Health Biloxi Board of Trustees. “We were impressed by his skills and passion for creating an environment that supports the caregiving team and leads to a great experience for patients.”
Hise plans to use his knowledge and experience at Merit Health Biloxi to help it continue to grow and improve by focusing on quality and the patient experience. “When you center all your decisions around the needs of the patient, everything else will fall into place,” Hise said. When he left AllianceHealth Woodward, it was a 4-star hospital that was routinely in the 90th percentile for the best patient experience in the country.
While in Woodward, Hise was very engaged in the community, serving on the boards of the Woodward Chamber of Commerce, Woodward Industrial Foundation and Woodward Health Services Foundation, and he plans to be just as involved with the community here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
“The ultimate goal is to make Merit Health Biloxi the hospital to go to for a great patient experience,” said Hise, “I’m impressed by the dedication and commitment of the providers, employees and trustees and look forward to supporting their work. This is a strong team with many opportunities and it is a privilege to join with them in advancing clinical care and services for the community.”
