Merit Health Biloxi Honors Medical Staff with Doctors’ Day Donation to Local Charity

In celebration of National Doctors’ Day, Merit Health Biloxi honored its medical staff by donating to a local charity.
While Doctors’ Day is a day set aside to recognize physicians for their skills, sacrifice and service to the community, this year the hospital’s medical staff elected to have a donation given to a local nonprofit in lieu of receiving a gift. This is a testament to their ongoing care and compassion toward others. The physicians voted Back Bay Mission as the nonprofit organization to receive the donation and Merit Health Biloxi provided the donation as a token of gratitude to all physicians on its medical staff.
“We are grateful to the doctors on our medical staff for the steadfast care they provide to the thousands of patients we treat each year along the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” said Travis Sisson, CEO of Merit Health Biloxi. “It is easy to forget all the sacrifices they make and the compassionate care they provide. Today we recognize their contributions, skills and unwavering care which they extend not just to patients, but also to the community.”
Back Bay Mission is a not-for-profit that serves individuals who are living in poverty or homeless. At the Micah Day Center, they offer case management services such as showers, laundry facilities, clothing, job search and other necessary services for those who are living on the streets. Back Bay Mission offers several programs to aid individuals in keeping their homes and help prevent families from becoming homeless as well assist with repairs for seniors, low-income families and those with disabilities. It also has a client choice food pantry for those with food insecurities.
